The Sundaram Lab at the University of Georgia is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate to conduct quantitative and computational research on global infectious disease patterns and animal hosts.
The successful candidate will be based in Athens, Georgia, and join a research group that combines computational tools, spatial modeling, and machine learning to understand disease dynamics, forecast epidemics, and quantify zoonotic potential across global scales.
The postdoctoral researcher will play a central role in data-intensive research spanning zoonotic spillover and human outbreak events. Research activities will include co-developing research questions; acquiring and harmonizing large-scale ecological and pathogen datasets; developing predictive, spatial, and machine-learning models; synthesizing scientific literature; preparing manuscripts; and presenting findings to scientific audiences.
This position is particularly well suited for researchers interested in applying ecological principles and quantitative approaches to infectious disease and public health challenges. Experience or strong interest in data science, computational modeling, and quantitative ecology is desirable.
